5 Days in the Rockies: The "Best of Banff" Luxury Guide

The Concept: Five Days of Pure Mountain Freedom

Five days is the “sweet spot” for a Banff vacation, but it is also the most popular. This means the best spots like Moraine Lake and the Banff Gondola are always crowded.

By booking LimoConnect for your 5-day stay, you are buying back your time. You don’t have to research shuttle schedules or wake up at 4:00 AM to find a parking spot at Lake Louise. Your chauffeur is your key to the park. We provide the car, the local knowledge, and the front-door service; you provide the itinerary.

Valentine’s Day in the Rockies is magical, but nothing kills the mood faster than circling a frozen parking lot for forty minutes or trying to navigate a “black ice” highway while dressed for a fancy dinner.

LimoConnect offers the ultimate romantic upgrade. Imagine being picked up from your home or hotel in a heated, pristine luxury sedan. There’s no need for a designated driver, no shivering on a sidewalk waiting for a ride-share, and no stress. We handle the winter roads; you handle the romance.

Highlights

  • The “Big Three” Lakes: Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and Peyto Lake, without the parking headache.
  • Canmore Exploration: Discover the local dining scene and boutique shops of Main Street.
  • Summit Dining: A sunset ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain for a table at Sky Bistro.
  • Wildlife Views: A cruise through the Minnewanka Loop, a prime area for bighorn sheep and elk.
  • Total Comfort: A heated or AC-controlled cabin waiting for you at every trailhead.

Detailed Itinerary

Your 5-day escape starts at Calgary International Airport (YYC). Your chauffeur will be waiting at the arrivals gate to take your luggage and lead you to your private vehicle. The 90-minute drive into the mountains is the perfect time to relax and watch the skyline transition from city glass to limestone peaks.

We suggest a stop in Canmore for lunch. It’s the perfect introduction to mountain life. Have your driver drop you at Crazyweed Kitchen for their famous salt and pepper calamari, or Sauvage for a more intimate, tapas-style meal. After lunch, a quick stroll through the Avens Gallery on Main Street offers a look at some of the finest local art before we head the final 20 minutes into Banff to check into your hotel.

Day 2: The Icons of Banff Town

Spend your first full day exploring the immediate Banff area. Your driver can take you to Bow Falls, where Marilyn Monroe once filmed, and then up to the Mount Norquay Lookout for the best “postcard” view of the townsite.

In the afternoon, head to the Banff Upper Hot Springs for a soak, or visit the Cave and Basin National Historic Site to see where the Canadian National Park system was born. For dinner, ask to be dropped off at Chuck’s Steakhouse. It’s the premier spot for Alberta beef, and having a driver means you can enjoy a glass of fine Okanagan wine without worrying about the drive back to the Fairmont Banff Springs or The Rimrock Resort.

Day 3: The Turquoise Waters (Louise & Moraine)

This is the day when your private service proves its value. Since private cars are banned from Moraine Lake, most people are forced onto crowded public buses. Your LimoConnect vehicle has commercial access to drop you right at the lakeshore.

After you’ve taken in the “Twenty Dollar View” at Moraine, your chauffeur will take you to Lake Louise. Enjoy a walk along the shoreline or a luxury Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. If you’re feeling adventurous, we can drive you 15 minutes further to the Lake Louise Summer Gondola, which is one of the best places in the park to spot grizzly bears from the safety of a chairlift.

Day 4: The Bow Valley Parkway & Peyto Lake

Today, ask your driver to take the Bow Valley Parkway (1A) instead of the highway. It’s a slower, scenic route where wildlife sightings are much more common. We will stop at Johnston Canyon for a walk along the limestone catwalks to the waterfalls.

Continuing north, we reach Peyto Lake. The short walk to the lookout reveals a lake shaped like a wolf’s head, with a color so bright it looks painted. On the way back to Banff, stop at Bow Lake to see the historic Num-Ti-Jah Lodge. It’s a day of pure scenery where you can keep your eyes on the mountains while your driver handles the winding roads.

Day 5: Lake Minnewanka & The Smooth Departure

On your final morning, take a relaxing drive around the Lake Minnewanka Loop. This area is a local favorite for spotting bighorn sheep and bald eagles. You can take a boat cruise on the lake or just enjoy the silence of the water.

Before heading back to Calgary, stop in Canmore one last time for a farewell brunch at The Sensory, which offers the best view of the Three Sisters peaks in the valley. Your chauffeur will then ensure a smooth, timely ride back to Calgary Airport, handling all your bags and ensuring you arrive at your gate relaxed and ready for your flight.
